This has been around a long time. Although I took the picture it was featured on my wife’s account for over a year in its original form. It’s actually received a lot of attention and even placed third in a local newspaper contest (for what it’s worth) but it never really did much for me. So I did a bit of dodging and burning, warmed it up a but and cropped it. I like the new version a lot more.

The sunbeam is real, as evidenced by the strong backlighting on her fur, but I brought it out a little bit more in Photoshop while I warmed the overall tone. There’s a bit of an optical illusion going on to create the beam… the light was falling through the trees as the sun was nearly down and cast the beam across the concrete and right to her.
